When you have a chance to go to Japan, one place you can’t miss is Mount Fuji. Mount Fuji, which is a symbol of Japan, is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776m. It is located near the Pacific coast of central Honshū, just west of Tokyo. Mount Fuji is an attractive volcanic cone and a frequent subject of Japanese art, as a result, the mountain is mentioned in Japanese literature throughout the ages and is the subject of many poems.

What time is the best and safest time to visit Mount Fuji? The answer is from July to August. It is not suggested going to clime Mount Fuji outside the two months as the temperature on the top of the mountain can be really very low.

Mt. Fuji can be approached from all sides, but visitors must note that transport schedules are sharply cut outside the official climbing season in July and August. From Tokyo, the easiest and most popular option is to take a direct bus from Shinjuku to the trailhead at Kawaguchiko Fifth Station. The most economical approach is by Odakyu train from Shinjuku to Gotemba, although you will have to change trains and the price difference is rather minimal.
