When we refer to France, the first city that comes to our mind must be the Paris. But Paris is only Paris, it just represents herself. A city with multiply race, language, culture is not a true France. However the backland of the France named Lyon, is a place that represent the true France.
Lyon, is located in the southeast France, it is the center of the second largest metropolitan area and economic and cultural, it is an old city with long history. In the year 1998, it has been listed by UNESCO as world cultural heritage sites.
Take the high-speed train bound for Lyon, along the road, the rural land is as well as in the vast grassland, sweeping foothills, slopes covered with beautiful flowers, golden sheep and oxen. In the blue sky, the picture scroll of the nature is slowly open due to the fast train , let our eyes get the highest enjoyment.
Along the passage through the glass and omega is the famous Hugo square street. The name of this street is as common as the ZhongShan road in every city of China. No matter it is Paris or Bordeaux, or seaside town, there will have seen the writer Hugo street in France, then we can know that the position of litterateur in the French’s heart is so high.
The architectures on both sides of the street are built 200 years ago, and all of the buildings are made of stone, shops in the bottom are decorated originality and delicate. Small cafe is opening on the corner, but inside there are many guests, leisurely drinks and read newspapers, eyes are very peaceful. The gift shop is full of a lot of beautiful things, small porcelain plate with Lyon’s history and historic sites, beautiful postcard is telling you this beautiful city, and many small ornaments, decoration work are very fine, they are full in French style.
Industrial city is truly a industrial city, Lyon trolley transparent crystal, show the perfect technology. In the street is not very bright, suddenly saw this rapid rushing trolleys, let me suddenly thought to the future world science fiction films. The chassis is very low, trolley similar to the car that the domestic airport uses to transfer passengers. The body of the trolley is tubular, passengers seeing from the outside, is as clear as the scenery outside passenger see. Car is very quiet, nobody speak loudly , nor the vehicle produce noise. Sitting on the streets, enjoying the residential house, each one is distinctive, say a house is a scenery, let a person look very uncomfortable. And each has a garden colorful world, how wonderful it is!

Ok – I’ll be first. My favorite destination is the ridge between the Lot and the Dordogne river valleys. Stay in the countryside in a comfortable Gite with all of the sites within a 40 minute drive in any direction. In fact, if the volcano doesn’t smoke too much, I am going back again this fall (and I can’t wait). Why? Because it is so beautiful around there – and all of it is steeped in history…and they all speak French (and tolerate my efforts at it). I don’t think any place of historical standing calls to me quite so strongly. It is like living in a novel or better.
We will be spending a week in Vancouver before we take a week-long Alaskan cruise. Is there any place near downtown where we can take our clothes to get them washed, like a drop in laundry service? With two kids, the price per item that the hotel will charge will quickly add up to be more than we can afford.

Three nights is about right for an Island fix Mid March – after the beige scenery and dirty snow on the prairies, I am ready for a breath of salty sea air. In February a friend sent me her itinerary for a month long sojourn at her “pad” in Victoria. There were a few days slotted for her family to visit around Easter, a solo bus trip to Tofino but really the calendar was open so we were able to settle on some dates for my visit.
