The Great Wall of China is one of The New Seven Wonders of the World, and whenever you see this respectable Great Wall, you must feel deep esteem. If you want to have a long travel to China’s Great Wall to look in depth upon this world’s greatest achievement of engineering, I think some of facts below will be helpful in your Great Wall exploration.
Which Section to Choose
There are so many sections of the Great Wall to you, however, visiting all of the sections is virtually impossible only if you have all the time and means at your disposal. But I think we don’t have to visit all, below are the four most popular sections in Beijing:
Badaling Great Wall - This is by far the most representative and probably most famous. It is the grandest and most splendid section of all, closest to Beijing city proper, convenient to access and easier to climb, thus the most visited.
Mutianyu Great Wall – This is the second most redeveloped section after Badaling, with high forest cover and remarkable views in fall and summer.
Jinshanling Great Wall – the section that is completely un-restored, with almost no crowds and hawkers, but more steep, which is favored by most foreign travelers.
Simatai Great Wall - If you fancy an adventure, it is better to visit Simatai, which has had less renovation yet is well preserved. As well as its ruins, it also has an intact section, so Simatai is considered by many tourists from home and abroad as the best section of the Great Wall.

In short, Badaling is visited by most tourists in view of its accessibility, but you will also meet crowed and touristy. Don’t go there if you have another choice. I think Matianyu and Simatai are the two best ones.
Best time to visit
The scenery of the Great Wall varies with the seasons, which offers many features and fodder for you at any time of the year. However, if you are an ordinary visitor, the best times are spring and autumn, especially May, September or early October when it is usually sunny, with brisk temperatures, leaving you more refreshed and comfortable.
Some Tips
1.Take some snacks along, while a good supply of water is necessary to avoid dehydration. These can be purchased on the Badaling section but so expensive. Remember, there are no sales on other sections and there are no washrooms midway.
2.Carry an umbrella to protect you from the sun as well as potential rainfall.

3. Please inquire about the weather condition before traveling. Do not visit the wall on rainy days. In case it rains while you are on the wall, do not use cell phone, broadcast or any other communication equipment. Turn their power off and take shelter in a beacon tower to avoid lightning strike.
4. For protection of this world heritage, graffiti is not allowed on the Great Wall.
5.You should be aware that noisy hawkers could be a problem on the Great wall.
6.Cable cars are only available in Badaling, Mutianyu, Simatai and Jinshanling sections.
7.Ofcourse,bring your good mood is the most important.

Sawadee Kha! I’m about to go to Thailand and I’m sooo excited about it. Already booked my flight to Suvamabhumi Airport and from there we’ll go explore around Samui, I found your awesome site on Google and it seems that you know a lot about Siam. Would you please give me a hint where to stay in Silom? I’ve heard there are some fantastic hotels near Sukhumvit and MBK… Thank you in advance!
The easiest time of year to visit Koh Samui is during the dry season from January to late April. From round March through to October, temperatures regularly reach 30 Celsius. The rainy season is from November to February and temperatures during this time are around 20 Celsius. Despite the extraordinary shower here and there, there’s still plenty of beach weather. From July to October it sometimes rains off and on, but is still pleasant as the sun pokes through and rainbows are often seen. September and October can be nice times to visit as crowds and prices tend to decrease.
